Fall, 2008 (Sept. 12-14)Al Hooks All levels This class will be focused on digital photography and printing, with a view toward a new way to see the world around them. New perspectives will be explored. Students will be introduced to different mediums that they can print their digital images on- even silk and canvas, etc. There will be discussion of composition and subject matter, along with field work in the eclectic downtown Eureka Springs. At the completion of the workshop students will have an opportunity to exhibit their works in the Al Hooks Signature Gallery. Al Hooks was born and raised in the French Quarter of New Orleans. Al has been a photographer his entire life, having first picked up a camera at the age of 12. He did wedding and school photography and ran successful ad agencies in both New Orleans and New York City. Al takes his photography to another realm, by creating works of art from his images. He states that his hope is to have people see things differently. In his art, Al isolates a fraction of what is in the panorama and creates it as a focal point. Al owns and operates the Al Hooks Signature Gallery in Eureka Springs. He recently acquired a building across from the Crescent Hotel in the Historic District of Eureka Springs that will showcase not only his works, but those of other artists. |
