Session Nine/August 4-8

Chris Fischer
Collage and Assemblage with Found Objects

All levels
Studio and field
5 Day class (9am-4pm)
Tuition: $275
Materials: To be determined

For the dumpster diver and collector of everything from yard sales to attic treasure troves, this class will offer the opportunity to put all these findings to constructive and pleasurably aesthetic use. Participants are encouraged to bring any and everything to the studio and put them together as pasted collages or as full blown sculptures. Following the lead of Picasso's visits to the dumps of Paris to make his whimsical guitars and bull heads, this class will plunge into the "everything can be art" practice of making compositions from unexpected combinations and unusual materials.

Local Eureka Springs artist, Chris Fischer, has been making art from paper ephemera, architectural salvage, and junk furniture in non-conventional formats for many years, and has taught both collage and assemblage classes at ESSA.
