Session Seven/July 21-25Gary Simmons Beginner to Intermediate In this class the student will learn the fundamentals of drawing the human figure. Particular attention will be given to creating an accurate image of the figure with drawing media such as charcoal, pencil, and pastel. Gary is a Professor of Art at Henderson State University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas, and resides in Hot Springs, Arkansas. He received a BA and MA from Southern Illinois University; later he was awarded his Doctorate from Indiana University in Instructional Systems Technology, and minored in English and Fine Arts Photography. His most recent published text is "The Technical Pen: Techniques for Artists". He teaches life drawing at Henderson where he has received awards for outstanding excellence in community service, teaching, and personal creativity. Gary has been part of a life-drawing group for over thirty years. |
