Eleanor Lux
Spindle Spinning and Dyeing Naturally

All levels
Studio
5 Day class (9am-4pm)
Tuition: $275
Materials: $50 kit, including spindle

The class will begin by building a fire under the copper kettle for dyeing and discussing the most primitive methods of spinning. While learning to use the spindle, students will be carding and dyeing with various plants. As student's spinning skills improve they will experiment with a variety of fibers and have a chance to try out a treadle wheel and walking wheel.

Eleanor Lux, a studio artist, living in Eureka Springs, has traveled many miles taking her grandmother's spindle with her and spinning skeins of yarn. She is also a weaver and beader, and has taught classes worldwide.
