Session Seven/July 21-25

Thad Flenniken
Design Composition in Painting

All Levels
Studio
5 Day class (9am-4pm)
Tuition: $275
Materials: $25

This is a foundation fine arts course involving the use/application of the elements and principles of visual organization and the creative process as they relate to art in general, painting specifically, and the environment. The student will gain insight into the critical, analytical processes necessary for good compositional arrangement in painting. They will also be an engaged partner in the design learning process; gain a new understanding of their immediate environment; add experiences to their use of chosen art media; and be able to answer the questions, "what am I going to paint" and "how am I going to paint it" (compositionally).

Thad Flenniken is currently an Art Instructor at the National Park Community College in Hot Springs, Arkansas. He received his BA and MFA from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. He is a member of the Arkansas Artists Registry and exhibits at the Blue Moon Art Gallery in Hot Springs. As a maker of images, Thad takes liberties with emerging archeological and genetic evidence to create symbolic reflections of those current concepts.
