Session Five/July 7-11

Judd Mann
Fused & Stained Glass

All levels
Studio
5 Day class (9am-4pm)
Tuition: $275
Materials: $125 kit (includes both stained and fused glass pack)

This class will focus on the basics of stained glass making and fused glass making. The intent of this class is not so much to have a beautiful finished object, but to create a few small pieces of glass in order to understand the basic concepts of stained glass and fused glass. By the end of the class, each student should have the following stained glass pieces: 2 or 3 small sun catchers, and 2 small stained glass windows. The student should have the following fused glass pieces: 1 pendant and 1 pair of earrings, 1 coaster, and if time permits, one small bowl. Students may have more pieces depending on time allowance and ability of the students.

Judd Mann of North Little Rock, has a B.F.A. in English/Creative Writing from Arkansas Tech University. He has taught high school English for ten years. Judd began working with glass in 1996. Among his favorite mediums are recycled bottles, antique plates, and ashtrays which not only contribute visually, but also add humor and nostalgia to his work. He has appeared in the November edition of Real Living magazine, and also on the cover of the May, 2003 edition of the Log Cabin Democrat. Judd's work has also been featured on national television, and he has displayed his art at the Arkansas Arts Center gallery gift shop, the River Market, and the Cantrell Gallery.
