Session Four/June 23-27

Charles Pearce
Calligraphy

All levels
Studio
5 Day class (9am-4pm)
Tuition: $275
Materials: The Little Manual of Calligraphy @ $12.95

This class is an introduction to the art of calligraphy taught by world-renowned calligrapher, Charles Pearce. Students will learn everything that they need to know to acquire a good calligraphic hand. The class will begin by learning Edward Johnston's Foundational Hand, a solid beginning hand based on a circular letter form. Next students will move on to the basic italic hand.

Charles Pearce is a calligrapher of international renown. In 1970 he was elected a Fellow of the Society of Scribes and Illuminators in London, the highest recognition for a calligrapher. Originally a native of England, Charles came to the United States in 1981. He lived in New York for twelve years. During this time he began painting and was the first calligrapher to be given the status of Artist in Residence for New York City. After several years of creating work for corporations like Pentalic and American Greetings, Charles chose to relocate to Eureka Springs in 2002. Having taught Calligraphy in workshops worldwide, he wanted to establish a studio and workspace to not only teach calligraphic skills, but also to develop the area of calligraphic art in painting as well as in other mediums.
