Session Four/June 23-27Deleen Davidson All levels Students will learn the basics of building a good botanical portrait: how to choose the best materials and handle them properly; explore a variety of painting styles and techniques (wet-in-wet, dry brush, glazing, etc.); learn to master texture, lighting, and shading techniques; thorough selection and application of various media (watercolor, acrylic, oil, and pastel); and gain insight into the artist's creative process. Deleen Davidson, is a native New Orleanean, presently residing
in Hot Springs, Arkansas, who has been juggling art and music since
early childhood, balancing academics with art lessons, ballet, violin,
piano, voice and theatre. She has a B.A. from the University of New
Orleans with a major in History and a minor in Music, Fine Art and
German. In 1988, a Rotary International Scholarship allowed her to
attend the Staatliche Akademie der Bildenden Kunst, in Karlsruhe Germany,
where she studied painting and returned to Europe in 1990 on a Fulbright
grant to teach English and study voice in Bregenz, Austria. Deleen
decided to pursue a career in interior design. She earned a professional
degree from Delgado, and in 1994, opened Venture Designs, Inc, a multi-service
design firm, specializing in custom & decorative fine art, faux finishes,
and color consultation. In 2004, she opened Fine Art Florals, Inc.,
a commission botanical portrait company specializing in bridal and
memorial floral paintings. Deleen has currently moved to Hot Springs,
Arkansas, where she works with the arts and music community and has
