Session Three/June 16-20Arlone Folkers All Levels Students will complete a 16" X 26" twined rug of their own design. Emphasis will be on rug construction, finishing techniques, preparation, and sources of weft and warp materials, in addition to use of design and color. Arlone Folkers, from Mountain View, Arkansas, has been teaching this class for the past five years at the Ozark Folk Center. She has participated in the "Off the Beaten Path Studio Tour" for the past six years. As an art major at Illinois State University in Normal, Illinois, she was exposed to a variety of crafts, which led to a life long love of color and an interest in weaving. In the mid-80's, she was recognized as a Master Weaver by the National Endowment of the Arts. |
