Session Two/June 9-13Linda L. Shearer Beginners Learn the joys and challenges of painting on rice paper with the basic brush strokes of Chinese painting in ink and color. The student will also discover how to load their brush with multiple colors for spontaneous painting. Composition, seal placement, and washes will be taught in this class. Also, the "4 Gentlemen of Chinese Painting" - bamboo, grass orchid, plum blossom, and mum - will be the subjects of your painting to provide examples of the brush strokes and color techniques. No experience is required except a sense of humor and adventure! Linda resides in Hot Springs Village, Arkansas where she paints full time and teaches Chinese Brush Painting. Linda comes from a family of accomplished artists. She received her Masters at USC in 1964 and worked in the California Public School System as a teacher, counselor, and project director for over 25 years. In 1985, she visited China and discovered Chinese Brush Stroke Painting. She later studied with 4th Generation Chinese Brush Master, Ning Yeh, for 15 years. Linda paints with both the Hsieh-I, or spontaneous style; and the Kung-Pi, or fine line style, using Chinese paint chips and ink. |
