Session One/June 2-6

Greg Thomas
Basic Bowl Turning

Beginners
Studio
5 Day class (9am-4pm)
Tuition: $275
Materials: $35

Students will learn basic bowl turning. Emphasis will be on safety, design, and proper tool technique. Students will be working with green maple which turns easily. This will be a fun class with lots of shavings flying off the lathe, while creating a green turned bowl.

Greg Thomas from Elkins, Arkansas, began making furniture in the 1980's. While studying under master turner, Judy Ditmer, he focused his attention from furniture making to bowl turning. The following year Greg studied with Trent Bosch at his studio in Colorado. Greg is a member of the American Association of Wood turners and his work may be viewed on their website. In 2006, he was commissioned by designer Toni Wyre to turn 107 memorial medallions for the Arkansas Bar Association's Memorial Wall in Little Rock, Arkansas. Greg's work can be seen and touched at Handmade in Fayetteville, Arkansas and Cox Creative Gallery in Little Rock, Arkansas.
