Session One/June 2-6

Carol Peacock
Painting with Oil with Texture & Glazes

All levels
Studio
5 day class (9am-4pm)
Tuition: $275
Materials/Model: $35

Noted Eurekan artist, Carol Peacock, will be teaching oil painting with glazes. The following painting methods will be used: figurative from a live model; abstraction of the figure from drawings; and painting from memory. Carol states: "To paint straight from the mind is my greatest joy; to paint the figure from memory requires seeing and embedding the visual in one's mind."

Raised in Germany, Carol Peacock was inspired by the European painters, Paul Gauguin and Amedeo Modigliani. These influences come through in her sense of color and her figurative work. She has been painting since her teens and has had numerous one-woman shows. In 2005, she received first prize at the Eureka Springs Fall Art Fair. In 2007, she completed the restoration of the Louis Freund mural in downtown Eureka Springs, for which the Historic Preservation Alliance of Arkansas gave the Outstanding Service in Neighborhood Preservation Award to Carol and her fellow artists. Carol now enjoys her own signature gallery on Basin Springs Avenue in Eureka Springs.
